Travel Trends You Need To Know In 2018

Hands up, who else is already planning their holiday leave for 2018? While I am sure the majority of us have an idea of where we would like to travel to or have already booked a holiday or two (I am very guilty of this), here are some of the 2018 travel trends that might sway your decision on where and when to go on holiday this year…

Travel Trends

Wellness Retreats

From yoga retreats and fitness breaks, to detox holidays and spiritual havens, health conscious travel has never been so popular. And with ‘mindful movement’ forecast as being this year’s go-to wellness trend by Health and Fitness Travel – luxury resorts and spas are keen to provide for travellers who are wanting to be more health conscious. I am so excited to be jetting off to Thailand later in the year where I too will be enjoying yoga on the beach, detoxifying treatments and spiritual meditations. I have also had my eye on a few other retreats that I would highly recommend looking into this year, they include Olivia Cooney’s Pop Up Fitness Retreats (her latest one was at the gorgeous Long Beach in Mauritius) as well as Fit and Flow Retreats by Kim Hartwell and Katie Grayfit.

Winter Is The New Summer

Having just embraced the Christmas period, it is no surprise that everyone is now looking to book their next holiday during the coldest and what can be the most depressing month in the UK. Winter holidays are on the rise, more so than ever this year with a huge number of people jetting off between January and March to beat the cold, damp and wet months! Popular destinations this year include jetting off to the likes of Arizona, St Lucia, Malta and Australia. And here’s my top tip for travellers in 2018 – you could take off as little as seven days of paid leave this coming Christmas by booking off the 24th December – 6th January in order to bag an impressive 16 day break! What are you waiting for? Think ahead and get these dates in the office calendar!

Payment Instalment Plans

Did you think package holidays that are paid off month by month were a thing of the past? Think again! Financial firms such as Affirm and Uplift are helping wannabe travellers who are strapped for cash with payment installation plans, meaning you can book that holiday you’ve been planning for so long while still being able to pay your rent, bills and overheads at the same time. This is perfect for solo travellers who just want to jet off and explore a new city or for couples who fancy a week away on a remote island.

Vegan Travel

With more than three million vegetarians in the UK and approximately 2,000 people cutting out meat daily (me being a prime example), the vegan eating practice is becoming increasingly popular in the UK, as well as other countries around the world. So, it is no surprise that veggie or vegan travellers are wanting to suit their holiday needs to their dietary requirements. A few great plant-based restaurants I have found during my travels are Soul Kitchen in Paris, Flax and Kale in Barcelona, Lady Bird in NYC, Sister of Soul in Melbourne and of course the very best Farmacy in Notting Hill in London.

I hope this helps and inspires you when booking your holidays for the year ahead – enjoy!
