How I Beauty Prep Before Travelling

Before I travel, whether it be a weekend away or a few weeks abroad, I like to give myself a little pamper!  I always have a go-to beauty regime before going away in order to make myself feel ‘holiday ready’, so I thought I would share mine with you…

Skin

I always give my skin a good exfoliation with my Frank Body Scrub before jetting off on holiday. Frank Body Scrub has always been my go-to exfoliator as the main ingredient is coffee, which stimulates blood flow and promotes collagen production. It leaves your skin feeling so smooth and nourished. Another bonus is that it is completely natural, vegan and cruelty free  After that, I smother my skin all over with Bio Oil. I have never been a fan of moisturisers as I have sensitive skin, so I try to stay clear of perfumed fad products. Bio Oil has always worked for me and it is so good for your skin. Depending on where I am travelling to, I also treat myself to spray tan to give my skin that bronzed glowing look. If I was going to a hot country where I will be sunbathing by the beach, I definitely wouldn’t get a spray tan, however if I am going on a city break or weekend away like my trip next week to Rome, I will always get one to make me feel that little bit more tanned and healthy looking.

Hair

I always give my hair a good treatment mask from Kerastase before going away. My hair is very long and very thick, so I tend to leave one in over night or I will leave one in for a few hours, pop a shower cap over my hair, and then shower it off a few hours later. This is purely to just make my hair that bit more shinier and healthier looking while I’m away. Sometimes I will get a blow-dry the night before I travel, just so that my hair is pretty much done and looking good for the first few days of my holiday.

Nails

I have always been a fan of having a lovely fresh set of nails before going away, I feel half naked if I have no nail polish on my hands or toes! I go for a colour that suits the mood of the holiday, usually a bright pink for a summer holiday, and maybe a dark grey or red in the winter. I am lucky enough to have a wonderful nail technician from Harwood Rose who always does a lovely fresh full set of gels. Harwood Rose are Hertfordshire based and have a variety of treatments and services they offer, so make sure to check out the website. They do a damn good Environ facial too!

Lashes / Brows

I have always been lucky that my eyebrows are slightly darker than my hair colour and are a good shape to work with – so I always make them more defined just by using makeup. However, I recently did some research into HD Brows – a bespoke brow treatment using a range of techniques including waxing, tinting, tweezing, trimming and high definition makeup to design and create the perfect brows. I decided to give it a go and was so impressed with the result! I would highly recommend getting HD brows done if you are looking to make your eyebrows that bit more prominent and defined. It also saves me the time while I’m away to pencil them in, as they are already tinted and full looking! In terms of lashes, I know people can be quite cynical when it comes to lash extensions, however I swear by them! I only have them applied when I go away on holiday, as I’m conscious that if I had them on the whole time they could ruin my real lashes, plus I would probably get addicted to them! I absolutely love having individual lash extensions on holiday – for me a tanned face and lashes is all I need when I’m away. So having the lashes on saves me about 30 minutes of putting makeup on each day – I can slap a bit of bronser on, my favourite lippy and my lashes are done so I am good to go!
