House of Elemis, the luxurious Mayfair townhouse with a top-to-toe pampering menu, is the perfect place for people who are serious about looking after their skin and need a little spa break amid fast-paced London. I have always loved Elemis products, thanks to my mum who introduced them to me a few years ago. So when I was planning a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend, I thought this spa would be perfect. And I was right – Elemis therapists make it personal. They look. They listen. They tune in to you, performing transformative treatments, personalised to respond to the ever-evolving rhythm of your life and ever-changing nature of your skin.
The House of Elemis is tucked away down Lancashire Court, home to popular places such as Hush Restaurant and Victoria Secret. It has an aura of calm, intimacy and luxury when you walk through the little cobbled street. When we arrived, we were greeted by our therapists and to our surprise, were told they had upgraded us to the Elemis Penthouse (sorry, what?!) We couldn’t believe it, but definitely weren’t complaining! So off we went, up the beautifully decorated spiral staircase to The Penthouse. Sam opted for a deep tissue massage and I went for a body massage and facial combo, mainly because I am horrible at making decisions, and couldn’t decide whether my achey muscles or my dry skin needed speedier attention. The best part was being able to have our treatments together in the same room, but with a nice distance a part so we could properly relax and unwind.
We both told our therapists that we train a lot (three to four days a week at the moment) so they decided to use muscle soothing oil and agreed that a deep pressure was needed. I was lying face down, as you do during a body massage, and suddenly noticed how incredibly comfy the massage bed felt. I then noticed I wasn’t lying on a normal heated massage bed, but rather on what the therapist described as a ‘revolutionary Quartz and Amber bed’. The best way to describe it is that it was as though I was laying on incredibly soft beach sand while also feeling like I was floating? That sounds very weird, but honestly, it was unbelievable – if you go there, ask for the quartz and amber bed!
At the end of the treatments we were asked how we felt. Both of us agreed that we felt relaxed and refreshed. My skin felt soft and brimming with hydration. A subsequent glance in the mirror confirmed that yes, I was dewy and radiant. Our bodies also felt looser and less tight. We were given cold lemon water and a glass of champagne to finish off our stay there, and we couldn’t have been more impressed. We highly recommend anyone who is looking for a great spa in London, to check out the Elemis Day Spa.
